Kiting Under the Moonlight – A Team-Building Weekend with Gjelten Elektro

7th - 9th February 2025, I had the pleasure of hosting a kiting course for Gjelten Elektro as part of their team-building event at Storwartz, Røros. This was a truly special experience, combining the wild beauty of the Norwegian tundra with the thrill of mastering the wind.

A Magical Start Under the Stars

The adventure began on Friday evening when the team set up camp on the vast, open plains of Storwartz. With tents pitched under the clear night sky, we were treated to a breathtaking view of a full moon and countless stars above us. As the wind carried our kites high into the night, the team experienced the magic of kiting in the moonlight—a truly unforgettable sight.

Sunshine, Wind, and Progress

We woke up Saturday morning to fantastic conditions. The sun bathed the landscape in golden light, and the wind provided the perfect playground for kiting. My six-year-old daughter, Julia, eagerly stepped in to help, assisting participants with kites, skis, and snowboards. It was amazing to see how quickly everyone picked up the techniques, and by the end of the day, all had mastered the art of controlling their kites.

After an exhilarating day on the snow, the team checked into the Bergstad Hotel in Røros. A well-deserved evening of socializing in the historic town allowed them to unwind and reflect on their achievements.

Challenging Winds and Strong Spirits

Sunday brought fresh snow in the air and more challenging winds as well as 300 reindeer came for to our location. Something we had to take to obey for. (No kiting when the reindeers are at our spot) As soon as they went, we could kick off with our kites again. Despite the tricky conditions, the team showed determination and resilience. With a bit of persistence, everyone managed to get up and moving on skis and snowboards, proving that even in demanding weather, kiting is both possible and rewarding. We wrapped up the course with smiles all around, a testament to the spirit and teamwork of Gjelten Elektro.

Onward to New Adventures

As the team headed home, Julia, our dog Cailin, and I packed up our camper van and set off for our next adventure in Børgefjell, Namsskogan. A full week of kiting courses awaited, promising more great moments in the snow.

Thank you to Gjelten Elektro for an incredible weekend filled with energy, enthusiasm, and unforgettable memories. Looking forward to more adventures on the wind!
